Our client is a top-tier e-commerce solutions provider, developing and operating online retailing and direct response marketing businesses for retailers, branded manufacturers, media companies, and professional sports organizations. Their platform includes Website design and development, e-commerce technology, customer service, fulfillment, buying and merchandising, content development and management, online and database marketing, and product development. The Company is seeking bright, motivated, well-rounded Web/Java/J2EE development experts to provide leadership within its fast-paced, project-oriented software engineering teams. Working closely with the Database, Architecture, Project Management and other software teams to implement technology solutions for new and existing web applications, the Technical Leads will become key decision makers in the software design and implementation processes, ensuring a high-level of technical quality and integrity inside the development team and across the various development team activities. Technical Leads participate in all phases of a project including: planning, spec review & signoff, design, development, code reviews, testing and ongoing support. Responsibilities • Promote team-oriented environment, working closely with all levels of product development staff and third-party development teams. • Provide technical and project leadership for teams of 3-5 Java engineers. • Design, document, and implement new web-based solutions to support business needs. • Participate in requirements gathering, risk analysis and estimation tasks. • Assist support and infrastructure teams with problem resolution. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Advanced technical degree is a plus. • 3+ years’ experience leading software development teams including architecture, design, and project management responsibility. • 5 years’ experience developing Web-specific J2EE applications. • 3 years’ experience scripting SQL (statements, stored procedures, triggers). PL/SQL strongly preferred. • 3 years’ experience using Struts and/or Spring MVC. • Experience in Unix command-line environments. • Availability to travel to USA at the beginning of the contract for 4-8 weeks. Availability for 1-2 yearly trips to USA • Excellent English (or native) is a must Candidates should have genuinely solid skills in at least five of the following areas • Oracle 8i or higher and BEA Web Logic 7.0 or higher. • JUnit. • Developing and using custom tag libraries. JSTL experience is a plus. • Developing XML parsers. • Developing JMS/JMX applications. • Developing Web Services (SOAP). • Refactoring existing systems to design patterns. • ANT and/or Maven. • E-commerce software application development. • Websphere MQ. • Object/Relational Mapping libraries (iBatis and/or Hibernate). • Extreme Programming (XP)
